Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the Queerotic Festival for?

The curious and the brave of all ages and genders. The festival is for singles and for couples, for people in their early twenties up to their sixties. Our presenters are selected with a concern that a diversity of ages, gender and sexual orientations is represented at the festival. We support diversity because we believe that it is in a context where diversity is encouraged that the deepest learning happens.

How is the festival structured?

The festival is structured in such a way that you go through it at you own pace according to where you currently are in your emotional and erotic life. You will have the opportunity meet new people and learn some important things about yourself and others and celebrate and explore queerness in all its forms.

How will people be paired for activities?

If you have come with a partner, you can engage exclusively with them. Otherwise everyone will be paired at random with different people during activities and get to chat to different people during discussions.

What will I need to bring for the event?

We recommend you wear loose fitting comfortable clothes to participate in both body-based workshops as well as discussion-based workshops. You may also wish to bring a change of clothing and a costume for the performance evening.

Will there be nudity?

All activity will be clothes on.

What is your policy on safety and consent?

Our intention is to create a learning space that is as safe as possible where all activity is consensual. During the Festival Opening we will provide a framework which will enable you to express your wishes and boundaries in clear ways. There will also be exercises which will help you to learn to read "body consent", which supports verbal communication. Anyone who acts in a non-consensual fashion, or who makes others feel uncomfortable with their behaviour will be asked to leave. People who are unduly aggressive to other participants or staff will also be asked to leave.

Why do we not sell tickets for individual workshops?

The festival is designed as a space where you will meet people and have experiences you've never had before. It is intended to be a fully integrated experience, which includes much more than the workshops. The pauses in which you will re-connect and share with others what you've learned are an essential part of the process. Because selling tickets to individual workshops goes against our overall philosophy, we simply don't do it.

What if I do not wish to take part in a given activity?

There is no obligation for anyone to do anything. You participate at what ever level feels right for you. There are no expectations.

Will the Event be Catered?

We will be providing tea, coffee and some snacks throughout the day. For lunch and dinner you are invited to make use of the many restaurants and cafes very close by in the Darlinghurst area.

Does the venue have facilities for elderly and disabled people?

The venue is wheel chair accessible.

What do I do if I wish to exchange or re-sell my ticket?

All Ticket Sales are non-refundable. However, they can be exchanged for a fee of $10 should it turn out that after having purchased your ticket you are unable to come to the festival. In this eventuality, we will do what we can to help you to find another buyer of your ticket. Contact us via email or Facebook. Once you have found a buyer (either through your own networks or ours), we will exchange the name on the ticket for $10.

Who produces the Sydney Queer Erotic Festival?
